Accent Contracting Inc. was started in January of 1992 by Irving Sovern, just a few months before his first daughter was to be born. We started as a handyman company and paint contractor. As time went on, we hired more employees and expanded into home repairs and improvements. Handyman services and painting was our primary business for the first 10 years.

We then took on larger projects. I became a Lefrak sub-contractor and for them we painted thousands of apartments, remodeled over 300 bathrooms, changed hundreds of doors, and tiled hundreds of kitchens. We even painted swimming pools, renovated apartment building lobby and more! All while still providing home painting and handyman services to the Central Jersey area. In 2011, I started to recognize the potential of the bathroom remodeling market, so we started concentrating more on this market. As of 2026 we have remodeled over 1200 bathrooms, finished over 125 basements, and painted thousands of rooms, hung miles of moldings, and completed an uncountable amount of handyman repairs.
